A QUICK RECAP OF THE PREVIOUS SECTION
No matter how much you struggle or pray, you cannot stop the storm , all you can do is to protect your belongings from getting destroyed by the storm
Most times, the word of God injures us when we do not practise it
○ WHAT IS THE CHURCH CALLED TO DO?
The church is called to build Faith
The church is called to build Character
The church is called to raise the standard of living
OBEDIENCE means hearing and doing the words of God, it is not following the advice or instructions of Men at the expense of God.
WHY DO WE NEED TO OBEY?
It makes God supreme
It Makes us a lover of God
It makes us a Christian i.e. a follower of Christ
On the other hand, the opposite of obedience is disobedience. Being disobedient to the Lord is a greater sin than the sin of Witchcraft and idolatry. The result of obedience is acceptability i.e acceptance.
The identity of an obedient church is being friends with God, an obedient church is a gathering of God’s friends, while a disobedient church is merely a gathering of witches, Wizards and Idolaters.
WHAT ARE WE CALLED TO OBEY?
1. We are called to obey the principle of Watering: We have to water before the Lord replenishes.
How can we water: We can water with our financial resources, strength, time, wisdom and other resources given to us by God. Our primary duty is to water and watch God do his work of blessing us.
2. We are called to obey the commandment of Giving( Exodus 25:1-2, Exodus 30: 11-13)
“Until you do not see giving as a burden, that is when God will not see blessing you as a burden or problem”
3. We are called to obey the command of Spiritual growth and Self development: In the life of every christians spiritual growth is very important. There are some things prayers and reading of Scriptures alone can’t do for us without applying our wisdoms, therefore our spiritual growth and self development is very important.
4. We are called to obey the command of Love
5. We are called to obey the command of Faith: Always exercise your faith, without faith we cannot please God (Hebrews 11;6)
